Blake Davis has been looking forward for his moment to move up to a Honda RS125 all season long. Because he was 9 years old WERA could only allow him to race in their mini’s class. At many events Blake was only allowed to enter in one race. At the beginning of the season Blake was racing a Honda NSR63 and at about midway through he switched to a Honda RS85. WERA said once he was 10 year old he could move up.
The race WERA hosted last weekend (the Talladega Gran Prix Raceway in Alabama) was his big chance! After some thought and advice from mentors Blake and his Dad decided his debut would be on his Honda RS125… a bike Blake had NEVER ridden. At Saturday’s practice Blake carefully went out for his first lap on his RS125, but surprised everyone with how quickly he was cutting down his lap times. He felt good and was excited about Sunday’s races.
Blake entered four races this past Sunday. He raced his Honda RS85 in the Mini85 and F Superstock classes and won them both. Next, he had his races on his Honda RS125. Blake started on the back row in all four of the races, however, he found himself on top of the podium for both the E Superstock and Formula 3 classes. Way to go Blake!
Now, Blake is looking forward to round #4 of the Scorcher Series at the Herrin Compound in Georgia next weekend. Go get ’em Blake!
